Frances Chambers (nee Atkins) is a character mentioned in A Girl Named Jo. She was the mother of Junior & Jo Chambers.

Biography

Frances Atkins married Thomas Chambers and had two kids named Josephine and Thomas Junior. Eventually Thomas enlisted in the army and went away to Korea, and as time went on she became angry and lonely, stuck raising Jo and Junior on her own. She reunited with her old school friend Frank Hurley and went to the diner with him where they reconnected. Thomas came back home from the army but was injured, so Frances broke things off with Frank right away. Eventually Jane Hovac who was Frank's fiance at the time found out about their affair from reading the love letters that Frank sent to Frances. So the next day at the rubber factory, Frances was confronted by Jane who held a pistol in her hand prepared to shoot her, she missed and the bullet hit a gas line which caused a fire in the factory killing both her and Jane.
