"The Path We Pave" is the sixth episode in the second season of A Girl Named Jo, and the fourteenth episode overall. It aired on February 12, 2019.
Synopsis[]
One relationship comes to an end while another flourishes.
Plot[]
Cathy wakes up from the same cabin nightmare. Virginia comes in her room saying that Ray wants to speak with her. Cathy picks up the phone asking Ray how school is, he responds by saying its horrible and that everyone is cruel to him because of what Henry did to the teacher. He tells her not to believe anything Henry says and that he's a liar, then hangs up the phone.
Lawrence had left town ever since he put Dwight in a coma and apparently went with his parents on vacation. Alice had been getting post cards from him ever so often.
Jo is with Abby talking about her family issues with her father and Debbie, then Cathy joins them and asks her if she found out more about Henry's motives, Cathy says she hasn't yet.
Allen and Alice are in the hall having a discussion about Lenny getting out of the hospital which Allen is happy about. Then Alice mentions that she got another postcard from Lawrence, she claims that it doesn't sound like him and feels the words on the card aren't really his. Allen agrees and says that the school has been a lot better without him.
Cathy approaches Junior in the hall and asks to talk with him, he decided to tell her that he had a fun time with her at Phoenix Fest and thought they could be something more but calls her out that her mind is on something or someone else. Cathy says its not him and that she is the problem saying she deserves someone better who knows what they want. He asks her what she really wants, she says nothing and he leaves confirming that their relationship is over.
At the Fitzroy's office, Henry tries to speak with Russell who is having a hard time with his work saying contractors numbers are all cockeyed and can't get ahold of Chuck DuPont. He tells Henry that this is all his fault saying that ever since he started working for the family business that things with the hotel have gotten off kilter, and that he has never been able to do as he's told. So he gives him the rest of the day off telling him not to go near the hotel and that starting tomorrow he will be working in the back office at the very bottom working his way back up very slowly.
In chemistry, Cathy asks Dwight how he's feeling, he says that he's better especially that Lawrence still isn't there. Then she asks him out to get ice cream and will bring Jo and Abby with them, he accepts the offer. Then she goes up Jo and Abby in the cafeteria and asks them to come as well, they refuse then says that Dwight will only come if they go too saying that her and Junior broke up and she's not taking no for an answer.
At the diner, Henry and Ernie Sutherland are discussing about the loan. Ernie tells him that he got an approval from high up of $200,000 but still needs the signatures of a Fitzroy and DuPont family member of the businesses. Henry says it won't be a problem at all and he will definitely get the DuPont's signature.
Debbie calls Abby into her office to ask her how she's been feeling since the incident with her brother Dwight. Abby says she's fine but Dwight's arm is in terrible condition. Debbie says that it's terrible the way Abby and Dwight have been treated and suggests a sit-in to demand equal service for everyone of different races, and to start a boycott somewhere in town that deserves it. She then asks Abby to convince Jo to help her with the boycott saying that it would have to come from her considering Debbie is dating her father.
Thomas is back at the house building a crib for the baby when he gets a call from Debbie. He answers it and she tells him about an intrusion then hangs up. Then he hears someone come in through the door and goes to see who it is.
Meanwhile, Cathy, Jo, Abby and Dwight arrive at the diner. Ernie comes up to them asking what they want, Jo places and order fort them but Ernie refuses saying that he's been patient with Cathy and Jo because their families are doing business at the bank but this the diner for Attawasy residence and no one and yells all of them telling them to scram.
Allen comes home and hears the radio playing "Va Va Voom", he goes to turn it of and sees Lenny lying on the couch unconscious. he wakes him up and finds a bottle on the floor with valium and finds out he's overdosed. Allen fed up says he can't go through the stress and trauma over his father again, Lenny tells him that he's more troubled than he's worth. He then calls Alice on the phone telling her to come over.
Jo comes back home finding Thomas, telling him that they cannot sell to Ernie because he's a racist and won't let anyone outside of Attaway in saying that they need to protest. She wonders where he is, then her Uncle Bobby walks up from behind telling her he's preparing the crib upstairs. She asks him what he's doing back in Attaway, he responds by saying he came tp help raise the baby but is willing to help with her protest as well and then they hug.
Alice comes over with some fresh milk to give to Allen who lets her in. She notices that he is not feeling well, she gives him a hug and then they share a kissd.
Henry is in his shed with Lawrence who was kept hostage by him all this time. He is tied up being forced to sign the contract for the $200,000 loan. Lawrence signs the contract hoping Henry will let him go, Henry is now happy that he got the signature from the DuPonts and that the bank will give the Fitzroy's the $200,000 loan that he will take for himself.
